This program serves homeless families with children ages birth to 16 years for a period of 9 to 12 months. It is a comprehensive program that offers life skills training, parenting classes, individual and family therapy, budgeting skills, and complete management services. The goal is to move our families to a state of self-sufficiency in a warm and caring environment.
Second Harvesters Food Bank distributes meals to hungry families in our community. For four years PLANO has made a donation to Second Harvesters.
The Judah Academy is a missions-focused creative arts training program for youth. Their goal is to teach young people how to use their gift for inspiration and entertainment while making a commitment to those who are less fortunate, homebound and/or just in need of a simple melody that will make them smile. PLANO made a $3,000.00 donation at Executive Night, 2009.
Prepares a loving home and atmosphere along with college preparatory education to New Orleans area boys and girls and also provides ongoing support and care to college students which often involves scholarship support and a home to return to. PLANO made a $10,000.00 donation in 2007.
Their mission is to create a positive learning environment for general education enhanced with agricultural concepts and technology, to benefit students, the school and the community. The Lafayette Charter School is a tuition free public school in which parents, teachers and school staff and community members are partners in education.
A faith based homeless shelter/rehab center for men and women. PLANO has donated paper products and food for their annual Thanksgiving meal.
A leading provider of hippotherapy and therapeutic riding services for children and adults with disabilities
medically proven therapies use horseback riding to promote strength, muscular coordination and range of movement. PLANO made a donation towards a new therapy room.
Their mission is to take a comprehensive approach to moving underprivileged women from dependency to self-sufficiency by addressing their social and economic needs as related to work, family and community. As a result of organizations such as PLANO, participants have a positive outlook on entering into the world of work.
A non-profit literacy program to improve reading skills and self-esteem of lower elementary students. PLANO sponsored a student for the 2004-2005 school year.
PLANO has made donations in the past to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and also contributed gifts at Christmas time for the patients
