2007-2008

I would like to thank the Board and the entire PLANO membership for giving me this opportunity to serve as your President for the 2007-2008 year. It is truly an honor and a privilege, and I am proud to accept such an important position. As I look back on my twenty-six years working as a landman, the thing that makes me the most proud is the friendships I have made over the years with other landmen. PLANO offers all of us the opportunity to make new acquaintances and friends in our industry.

This should be another exciting year for PLANO members. Again, there will be countless networking opportunities - from the Summer Garden Reception at City Park in August, the OCS Lease Sale Breakfast, Christmas Social, Executive Night, to our monthly luncheons. The Board intends to continue the tradition of getting a mixture of speakers emphasizing not only industry matters, but the state of affairs in the New Orleans area as well. In addition to the networking opportunities, PLANO again will offer inexpensive opportunities for continuing education.

Despite some of the larger companies in our industry leaving New Orleans, I believe the area remains a viable part of the oil and gas community. PLANO will continue striving to ensure that the New Orleans area is not forgotten. As you know, about a month ago AAPL rolled into town with it's annual meeting and it was a huge success. There were approximately 850 registrants and, as usual, New Orleans was a wonderful host. As a parting treat for all annual meeting registrants, PLANO hosted a first class "Fais-Do-Do" at Mulate's Restaurant. Thanks to our sponsors, it was a successful event and our guests had a great time.

I am excited and look forward to working with the Board in preparation for the upcoming activities this year. Please do not hesitate to contact any of the Board members, or Committee Chairmen, with suggestions or questions about any of our activities. We look forward to hearing from you.

In closing, I wish to take this opportunity to thank John Dale for his tireless efforts and leadership in guiding PLANO through a hugely successful 2006-2007 year.
