Topic: A Regulatory Perspective on Injection Wells and the Louisiana Energy Transition

Speakers:
Justin Kain joined the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources in 2019 as a student worker while in graduate school and is now a geologist in the salt cavern group of LDNR’s Injection and Mining Division. He works with the permitting of solution mining, hydrocarbon storage, and hydrogen storage injection wells. He also maintains several projects relating to remediation and Co2 sequestration wells. Justin has experience in private industry working for an oil and gas prospector, with the majority of his experience in academia and government. He holds both a MS and BS in geology from Louisiana State University.
Holton Hinchliffe is an Engineering Supervisor in the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources- Injection and Mining Division. He graduated with a BS in Petroleum Engineering with a Minor in Geology from Louisiana State University in 2016. He began his career with the Injection and Mining Division working on permitting and compliance for Class II salt water disposal wells and Class II EOR wells. His primary work now is with permitting and compliance for Class III solution mining wells, Class II Hydrocarbon storage wells, Class V stratigraphic test wells, and the Class VI geologic sequestration program in Louisiana.
